November 2009 - AN EXHIBITION OF EMERGING ARTISTS ON THE CA’ REZZONICO FACADE

November 2009

The “Replay loves Arts” project and open air exhibition get under way. Instead of being used for an advertising campaign, the giant billboard that protects the Ca’ Rezzonico façade undergoing restoration works, will every month display and give exposure to the work of a new emerging artist chosen by the Claudio Buziol Foundation.

As part of the project entitled Imprenditori Illuminati (“enlightened business people”) “…near Venezia” launched by Fondaco together with Venice City Council, the restoration of Venice’s eighteenth-century Museum Ca’ Rezzonico’s façade continues. Supported and financed by the Fashion Box, holder of the brands “Replay”, “Replay&Sons” and “We Are Replay”. Replay has long been committed to the promotion of art through direct initiatives as well as through work carried out by the Claudio Buziol Foundation. The Foundation, which has its headquarters in Venice, was established in 2006 with the aim of providing practical support to young people in achieving their dreams, helping them to develop their creative and artistic skills and offering them the chance to gain visibility. The “Replay loves Arts” project and open air exhibition take place within this context. The giant billboard that protects the Ca’ Rezzonico façade under restoration, instead of being used for an advertising campaign, will display and give exposure to the work of a new emerging artist every month, chosen by the Claudio Buziol Foundation from the Gallery on their website www.fondazioneclaudiobuziol.org. They will then create a major exhibition of contemporary art. Apart from being reproduced on the board, the artist’s original work will be shown inside the Museum. In line with Replay’s recycling philosophy, at the end of the month the billboard will be reused for original bags created by the Rio Terà dei Pensieri Cooperative, which includes prisoners and volunteers, thus lending a social aspect to the entire operation. The bags will go on sale in the Replay Store in Venice and will finance the work of the Claudio Buziol Foundation. The artists who wish to participate and put their work forward can do so simply by registering themselves on the Foundation’s website www.fondazioneclaudiobuziol.org and uploading their artwork in the Gallery, by clicking “join as artist”. The first artist to be displayed on the billboard with their work Collezione Privata #21 is Lucia Veronesi, an Italian painter and video artist. The photographer, video artist, graphic designer and illustrator Seba Lallemand will follow.
